Every woman and man has a birthright to live their lives to their fullest potential. That is my firm belief. But it’s being challenged by the patriarchal system we’ve all been spoon fed, and it’s heavily weighing us down on all kinds of levels – from actual survival against automation, to women’s rights, to how everyone feels about themselves. It’s affecting us all – women and men.
Yet within the structure of this world designed by, and for, men to thrive. Women find themselves rewarded for acting, speaking, and looking like young girls, instead of confident, fierce, incredible women. We are allowed to be decent and smart, or sexy and beautiful. We are taught to look the same, be the same, and have very few dynamic, and healthy role models.
As a woman of mixed ethnicity, a woman of colour, and third culture kid/global nomad. Having lived in several countries growing up, and never being able to answer the endlessly asked question of where I’m from – female role models have been far and few between. Always being the odd one out, never blending in, I’ve worked hard to find my space, rhythm, and expression in this life. And like everyone else, I’ve seen women get sliced and diced for sharing what’s on their minds, for dressing in ways that make them feel gorgeous, for being emotional, for working too much or too little, for being too sexy or too smart or too ambitious…our strive to make ourselves happy is often being judged by other women as too much. There are many shades of dark that can dampen our radiance. Every culture has a different approach, but ultimately it comes down to the same thing. This world isn’t really a safe space for us to thrive – and we are also responsible for allowing this to happen, and to change the outcome.
Recognizing at an early age that women have been made to feel as though female intuition is fickle. Made to believe that our own flow of life, our own incredible energy is unstable. Setting us up for a life of insecurity, trying to fix what’s broken. We been bombarded with societal ‘norms’ that has us capping our naturally chaotic feminine presence, tying ourselves up in a metaphorical straightjackets. Disconnecting from our deepest sense of knowing – our feminine intuition. Our fierce body and mind connection. This is wreaking havoc on our physical, mental and social health.
Familiar with the expression mind-body connection? We attribute it to almost everything, except it seems where it counts – actually practicing a holistic approach of tapping into both our feminine and masculine energy. Instead, both men and women end up looking through our overly valued rational lens of solely dealing with one or the other – mind or body; masculine or feminine. Keeping it separated as if one could truly function well without the other. What has us only using some parts of our brain instead of trying to use more? Yoga, nutrition, hormonal health, mindfulness… all amazing support to find harmony again. But I challenge the reason feminine energy is so far removed from this discussion. As if it weakens, instead of strengthening the whole. That’s why I coach and train women on re-connecting with their feminine energy, through holistic use of their bodies AND minds. Because when you are fully engaged with every tool and skill available to you, you can live to your fullest magnificence. For me, it’s the only true way.
Take a moment and think: Are you only feeding one part of yourself? Has the idea of the feminine become so foreign or dirty to your map of the world, that you’ve found yourself stuck? Perhaps it’s something for you to think about, or join me in this discussion.
I really want to help you tap into your personal excellence of physical , mental, and emotional health, through your superpowers – so that you can live the life you want. Embracing your feminine side is part of that. Let me know how you feel about embracing yours.
